 Decorating delights

One of the joys of wandering around the towns of Aeternum is the lovely little decorating details we discover. Here are just a few of my recent finds.

Imagine my delight upon discovering the home of Caldor Stormborn, one of the characters of Utopia. I was actually looking to downsize to this house, as I was sick of owning the one large house that everyone in Ebonscale seems to have. The anatomy of this house is wonderful, with the stairs being on the outside and the cosy downstairs room with no windows. Caldor has made the most of this, with the upstairs room lulling the visitor into a false sense of low expectations. This is a boring and soulless space, not dissimilar to that seen in many other houses. With that in mind, the downstairs is spectacular.

The already small room is split into two distinct spaces – a bar and a den. The colour scheme is warm and inviting, everything is cohesive and works with the red tones of the building itself. Caldor combines rare items like the Rustic Wooden Scrollcase with rougher furniture such as the Tree Stump table, to great effect.

Once upon a time, I was surfing the top-rated houses of Windward and came across this gem. I took a few quick screenshots of one room before being pulled into a dungeon and forgetting to take more. I did show the house to a number of company members who were suitably impressed, and intended to go back to make a feature article on the place. Imagine my distress when I returned to discover the house was no longer on the list and I had forgotten the player’s name! Have they moved on? Have others pushed them off the list? We will never know.

The first room I saw in this wonderful house, was a kitchen/dining room. What impressed me was the use of Maple Chest of Drawers along with Maple Wall shelves to create a kitchen bar space. This is a prime example of creative use of common pieces of furniture. Throughout the house, the owner had combined rare items with thoughtful detail and I’m really upset that I didn’t take a photo of the bedroom bathroom, which was beautifully done. Note: if this is your house, please contact us at the Organ for a full tour.

Finally, I’m just sneaking in a bit of self-promo with my Windward house. You may note the outside staircase, which is a bit of a theme in all the houses chosen for this article.

This house has a big open space, so once again I’m using furniture to create smaller rooms. My kitchen is walled off by Oak Small Bookcases, with a window opening so as to allow viewing and breathing space.
