Utopian Organ is a periodical publication based on the experience of players on the Delos server in the Massive Multiplayer Online Game, New World. While the stories are essentially fictional, they reflect a real imagining shared by individual gamers united by their connection to a persistent online environment.
The site was founded by Lish and Landi, child and partner of Narokstar, who streams on Twitch daily. Having played New World since the open beta and launch, this publication is a way to express our creativity and hopefully inform and entertain fellow players. You can see Lish and Landi on Narokstar’s stream, usually playing together as a group.
We’re supported by our wonderful Don’t Die Alone members, who either feature in articles or provide information and proof-reading behind the scenes.
About the name
We started thinking about this creation while the Utopia server still existed, which is where the name has its origins. When brainstorming for periodical publication titles, we came across the strange name Organ, which we had a laugh at. However, Utopian Organ creates the initials UO, which is a reference to our gaming origins, and the first organ that comes to mind is the heart, which places us at the centre of the community. I mean, what other organ would you think of?
After being merged into Delos, we decided to keep the name Utopian, for sentimentality and meaning.
About our guides
We weren’t really planning to write guides. But we did find that we’re often explaining the same kinds of things and it would be good to have it written down. When Lishy’s friends started playing, she took action and our series of guides were born! We’re not aiming to be a Big Boy advice site, as those exist and we even link to them. More like helpful family and friends, giving you a push in the right direction. To that end, we’re available to chat with most nights on Narokstar’s twitch stream. Come and say hi!
