Playing with Friends

It's the friends we make along the way

The best part of online multiplayer games is the community you play with. Whether it’s your rl partner, friends and family, or people you meet in game, grouping up allows you to complete more content, faster. Plus, it’s just fun 🙂

Two different starter beaches

If you’ve started the game with someone else, you may find that you end up on different starter beaches. That’s just the nature of shipwrecks. You’ll have a few beginner quests to get through first, but never fear, your stories will be reunited by the time you both get to Old Stone Remembers in Everfall.

You can’t share quests in New World but you can share credit, usually. If you’re grouped with a friend, the kills should count for both of you, but you’ll need to collect your own loot. There are also some Soul Trials you’ll need to complete alone.

Grouping

To group up with someone, you need to access their menu. This is usually done by pressing H while looking at them, or by hovering their name in a chat screen. If you’re not near someone, it’s common to ask them to type “x” in global or recruitment chat, so you can see their name. You can also find people by typing in the Social search – “O” by default.

Any 2+ players can make a group, and there are also optimal ways to organise your group for more difficult content. Being in a group allows you to share kill credits, buffs, group-based healing, map pings, and visit one another’s houses.
