Your equip load is made up of the combined weight of your armour and shield, and is broken into three categories – Light, Medium, and Heavy. Select your armour to see the equip load weight category and its associated bonuses below. For more information about what to wear in Aeternum, check out our Gear Guide.
Who should choose Light equip load?
Healers should always choose Light armour for the 30% healing bonus. High-damage PVE DPS usually use Light as well. Ranged and Assassin roles in PVP also benefit from the damage bonus and mobility of Light armour.
Who should choose Medium equip load?
PVP Bruisers and melee-range DPS can benefit from the extra protection of Medium armour while still being able to do a reasonable amount of damage.
Who should choose Heavy equip load?
Tanks in both PVE and PVP can use Heavy Armour, as well as PVP point fighters such as bruisers or utility mages.
Note: The Void Darkplate artifact does not impact equip load but does provide more Armor Rating.
Some optimal Equip Loads
The following are some common combos for optimal armor rating within an equip load bracket. We’ve shown two options for using a shield in Light Amour and none for Medium, as these are more commonly used. If you’d like to see all possible combinations, play with the calculator above or browse the Armor Weights Table on New World Buddy.
Note: I included the Light Equip load for Medium Pants, as many people wear the Attuned Leather Pants artifact for the extra attribute points. I just wanted to demonstrate that there is no real Armor Rating difference between a 12.7 and 12.6 load.
