Sorry about the ads
They're out of control!
Here at the Utopian Organ, we pride ourselves on providing content for our friends and community without the intrusion of advertising. However, this comes with the running costs of web hosting and software subscriptions. As we are facing some budget cuts in our personal lives, I wanted to protect the Organ from becoming one of the “non-essential” things that could not longer be funded. In a desperate and probably futile effort, I thought I would put some ads discreetly at the bottom of the page and see if they helped make the site self-sufficient.
Despite my clear marking of exclusion zones at the top of the site, we seem to have some large banners above the title on every post. Not only that, they are touching the post title and look hideous! I’ve removed all ads from posts but they are still showing. I’ve listed community-based posts like the FAQ in the excluded pages section, but they still seem to have the ads 🙁
I would like to give the ads a go for a measurable period of time, just to see if they earn anything at all, so please bear with me while I work out how to make them subtle and not so ugly. Thanks for your patience.
Edit 21/09 – I think I’ve fixed it! At the very least, we’re not getting the hideous ads on the top of pages. But, I can’t seem to exclude pages from the footer ad.
