The Condoled Curator!
As the world of Aeternum sits at its sunset, I thought it a nice idea to record some of our most prized memories; our homes. The homes that players have owned, decorated, lived in, and loved carry lots of their memories from throughout their lifetime within the game, and it would be a shame to lose that when the end eventually comes.
We plan to make articles exploring as many of our own personal Aeternum homes as we can, and recording how they shaped our experience of the game. Starting off, of course, with Landi’s most prized place – her Mourningdale Home!

The Home in Question
This home of Landi’s sits in one of the corners of the Mourningdale settlement in the North-East of Aeternum. There were once hopes and dreams of the land being expanded, and the northern roads leading us to new lands. Living on the edge of world, Landi has made herself a little oasis, covering the walls in paintings and the floors in papers. Watch out as her most valuable belongings seem to blend into the mess!

If you want to visit Landi’s house, you should be able to access it through the house menu. Delos population is very low and Mourningdale was never a hugely populated town.
If you’re not on Delos, you can transfer for free in the Store. There is a 24 hour cooldown and you will need to abandon any houses you own (which is why I only transfer on alts). We have a region transfer guide here in case you need any help.
Landi's story
Narok and I explored Aeternum quite slowly to begin with, wanting to remain within our comfort zone. When we finally reached Mourningdale, we were ready for the content. Narok was fortunate enough to loot a Polished Marble Storage Chest during our first journey, so we felt the zone was lucky. We also met our first company, The Illustrados, who owned the settlement. We joined up, and had a brief idyllic time working together to build up the town and protect it from enemies. I bought my second Tier 4 house with the company discount and felt very much at home.
It was not long before another company fought us for the land and took it. This was in the time when companies could dictate tax levels and they took full advantage. All taxes were set to maximum, driving out the residents and making it unprofitable to use any of the stations. I still kept my Mourningdale house, as by this time I had grown attached to the comfortingly familiar yet remote settlement, with its rainy weather and occassional wild boars roaming the streets.
A long time later, when all the competitive players had moved to a fresh start server, Don’t Die Alone took ownership of Mourningdale and lovingly kept the stations up and town boards full. We used to meet on the roof of the Workshop, and if we lost an Invasion that was the first building to get upgraded so we could have our rooftop back.
We were never able to hold the territory without help and the server mostly let us keep it due to looking after it well. However, in the world of PVP, not everyone is kind, and some players decided they’d prefer to own the land and let the buildings fall. After that, I moved to Monarch’s Bluff, but will always keep my Mourningdale house as the first one I decorated with care.
This house has evolved over time, and I’ve added new treasures as I collected them from events or seasonal servers, as well as purchasing some from the store, and crafting or collecting everything I could.
One item I have been chasing for years but was never able to acquire, depsite thousands of Imperial Palace runs, is the Goldfish in Porcelain Bowl. This is a very rare drop and no-one in my circle of awareness has looted one. I’ve always had a spot up in my junk room, waiting for it. Finally, in the twilight months of the game I realised that I really had no reason to hold onto my gold and bought one from the Trading Post. At the highly inflated price of 2.5 million gold (almost 2.6 million with taxes). It sounds crazy but I’m actually really proud that I was able to get the fishbowl and place it in my most sentimental home. Not everyone has 2.6 million gold to spend. I finally ticked that one off my Long-term goals list.
