 Trophy Hunt

Last updated July 15th 2023 to add Ultimate Trophies

Have you ever wondered what trophies are and how to get them? In this guide, we explore the different types of trophies and the items that reveal the secret recipes in the Workshop menu so you can craft them.

There are three major types of trophies in New World, Fighting, Farming, and Fabricating. Fighting trophies can boost your damage against certain enemies, farming trophies can increase your luck while collecting resources, and fabricating trophies can help you craft a high level item. Trophies are somewhat unique in how you have to upgrade them. To craft a second tier trophy, the first tier trophy is a required resource (and so the second tier trophy is required for a third tier craft), meaning you must keep the smaller trophies to make bigger ones. You also need a different unique crafting component for each Basic and Major trophy and you won’t be able to see the recipe in the Workshop menu unless you have it on you, or in the settlement storage.

You can place one of each type of trophy in each of your houses, allowing for a max stack of 3. The total amount of trophies you can place in one house is 5, which means you can have a maximum of 15 trophy buffs active. It is possible to split these across 15 different trophies but most people will stack 3 of the same type of trophy to maximise the buffs.

As of Season 2, you can also combine all the trophies of the same type into Ultimate Trophies.

Fighting

Fighting trophies, aka Combat trophies, increase your damage by 3, 4, or 5 percent based on the level of trophy you have active. Minor trophies increase your damage by 3%, but are easy to craft, Basic trophies increase damage by 4% but take a medium-level crafting mat to make, and Major trophies take a very rare crafting mat to complete. There are fighting trophies for Corrupted, Angry Earth, Ancient, Human, Lost, and Beast-type enemies. It’s sometimes hard to know where and how to get the correct trophy mats, so here is some direction.

Type Bonus
Minor 3%
Basic 4%
Major 5%
Corrupted Combat Trophy

A Minor Corrupted Combat trophy can easily be crafted by anyone with level 75 Furnishing skill, and only takes Lumber, Steel Ingots, Maple Stain, and Life Motes. A Basic Corrupted Combat trophy is a little more difficult, but also easily do-able with a little effort. The required Furnishing level for it is 150, and the unique crafting component is a Corrupted Crest, which can drop from almost any high-level corrupted enemy, on top of this, there is no shortage of Corrupted Crests on the Trading Post usually, as people are getting them dropped all the time.

Now for the fun bit, a Major Corrupted Combat trophy is the hardest level to complete as it needs level 200 Furnishing skill, and the rare drop of a Corrupted Totem. This high end unique trophy crafting material is only dropped by one enemy, Pit Lord Daehi, in Shattered Mountain. There is a low chance that this item will drop when you kill him, however there is now also a guarantee that he will drop a Corrupted Totem Shard. Collect 100 of these to craft them into a Corrupted Totem.

To find the Pit Lord, head to Old Myrkgard Shrine in Shattered Mountain and dive into the corrupted crevice to the south-east. There will usually be a few people around the Pit Lord spawn point, so you can tell where it is. He spawns every couple of minutes, and there is Orichalcum to mine and Corrupted Tendrils to play with while you wait.

Angry Earth Combat Trophy

A Minor Angry Earth Combat trophy can easily be crafted by anyone with level 75 Furnishing skill, and only takes Lumber, Steel Ingots, Maple Stain, and Earth Motes. A Basic Angry Earth Combat trophy is a little more difficult, but also easily do-able with a little effort. The required Furnishing level for it is 150, and the unique crafting component is a Barkflesh, which drops regularly from Angry Earth mobs or can be purchased from the Trading Post.

Now for the fun bit, a Major Angry Earth trophy is the hardest level to complete as it needs level 200 Furnishing skill, and the rare drop of a Glowing Sap. This high end unique trophy crafting material is only dropped by one enemy, Baines, in Edengrove. There is a low chance that this item will drop when you kill him, however there is now also a guarantee that he will drop a Glowing Sap Shard. Collect 100 of these to craft them into Glowing Sap for your trophy.

To find Baines, travel to the Elysian Shrine in Edengrove then run north-west toward Malevolence. There is often a tent at the bottom of Baine’s tower, Seniab, which you can grab just in case you die. Climb all the way to the top of the tower and you should see Baines, and possibly a crowd of players waiting to kill him. Of all the trophy mat bosses, Baines is the strongest, which means you have more time to get kill credit. It’s still best to be in a group, just to make sure you get the drops.

Lost Combat Trophy

A Minor Lost Combat trophy can easily be crafted by anyone with level 75 Furnishing skill, and only takes Lumber, Steel Ingots, Maple Stain, and Death Motes. A Basic Lost Combat trophy is a little more difficult, but also easily do-able with a little effort. The required Furnishing level for it is 150, and the unique crafting component is a Ectoplasmic Essence, which can drop from almost any high-level Lost enemy, on top of this, there is no shortage of Ectoplasmic Essence on the Trading Post usually, as people are getting them dropped all the time.

Now for the fun bit, a Major Lost Combat trophy is the hardest level to complete as it needs level 200 Furnishing skill, and the rare drop of an Ephemeral Seal. This high end unique trophy crafting material is only dropped by one enemy, Mordici the Mortician, in Skysong Crypt. There is a low chance that this item will drop when you kill him, however there is now also a guarantee that he will drop a Ephemeral Seal Shard. Collect 100 of these to craft them into an Ephemeral Seal.

To find the Mortician, head to Wikala al-Waha Outpost in Brimstone Sands and travel east to cross the border into Northern Ebonscale Reach. Mordici can be found in the lower section of the Skysong Crypt, spawning in a depression outside an open shed. There are other monsters in the area that can drop named items and useful craft mods, so there’s plenty to do while you wait.

Ancient Combat Trophy

A Minor Ancients Combat trophy can easily be crafted by anyone with level 75 Furnishing skill, and only takes Lumber, Steel Ingots, Maple Stain, and Soul Motes. A Basic Ancients Combat trophy is a little more difficult, but also easily do-able with a little effort. The required Furnishing level for it is 150, and the unique crafting component is an Ancient Femur, which can drop from almost any high-level ancient enemy, on top of this, there is no shortage on the Trading Post usually, as people are getting them dropped all the time.

Now for the fun bit, a Major Ancients Combat trophy is the hardest level to complete as it needs level 200 Furnishing skill, and the rare drop of a Ancient Mandible. This high end unique trophy crafting material is only dropped by one enemy, The Surgeon, in Reekwater. There is a low chance that this item will drop when you kill him, however there is now also a guarantee that he will drop a Ancient Mandible Shard. Collect 100 of these to craft them into an Ancient Mandible.

To find the Surgeon, travel to Lazarus Shrine in Reekwater and run west and then up the hill into an ancient ruin. He will spawn on a platform outside the main tower. The Surgeon is the weakest of the trophy mat guardians and will die very quickly, so it’s worth grouping up with anyone else who is fighting him to make sure you get kill credit. His spawn rate is quite slow, at around 4 minutes, which makes this the most boring of the combat trophy mats to acquire.

Human Combat Trophy

A Minor Human Combat trophy can easily be crafted by anyone with level 75 Furnishing skill, and only takes Lumber, Steel Ingots, Maple Stain, and Death Motes. A Basic Human Combat trophy is a little more difficult, but also easily do-able with a little effort. The required Furnishing level for it is 150, and the unique crafting component is a Human Digit, which can drop from almost any high-level Varangian enemy. In addition, 5 Flame Cores are needed, which is different to all the other Combat Trophies.

Now for the fun bit, a Major Human Combat trophy is the hardest level to complete as it needs level 200 Furnishing skill, 50 Flame Cores and the rare drop of a Human Idol. This high end unique trophy crafting material is only dropped by one enemy, Sir Juni the Strategist, in Ebonscale Reach. There is a low chance that this item will drop when you kill him, however there is now also a guarantee that he will drop a Human Idol Shard. Collect 100 of these to craft them into a Human Idol.

To find Sir Juni, go to the Deadwater Way shrine in south-west Brimstone and run south-west over the mountains toward the coastline of Ebonscale Reach. The first place you can find Juni is on a ship docked at the jetty. If he’s not there, jump off the ship and follow the beach down to the point. Sir Juni is the most interesting and challenging of the trophy mat bosses, with his two locations and heavy hitting Greatsword and Blunderbuss.

Editor’s Note: Juni no longer has a split personality and can only be found on the ship now. Booo!

Wildlife Combat Trophy

Minor Wildlife Combat trophy can easily be crafted by anyone with level 75 Furnishing skill, and only takes Lumber, Steel Ingots, Maple Stain, and Fire Motes. A Basic Wildlife Combat trophy is a little more difficult, but also easily do-able with a little effort. The required Furnishing level for it is 150, and the unique crafting component is a Pristine Wolf Claw, which can drop from any wolf or be purchased cheaply from the Trading Post.

The Major Wildlife Combat trophy is the hardest level to complete as it needs level 200 Furnishing skill, and the rare drop of a Pristine Bear Claw. These can be found on any bear, including bear cubs.

Farming

To increase your luck while gathering, you can place a range of farming trophies in your home. These cover Mining, Logging, Harvesting, Skinning, and Fishing. Each trophy level adds 500 to the respective luck roll (except for Fishing which we’ll discuss below), which seems like a lot but the luck tables are using MASSIVE die, so it’s not that much. Loot Luck and Fishing luck are a bit different, which we’ll explore later. It’s important to note that gathering luck and loot luck work differently, which you can read up on in the Dev Blog on Luck.

The Minor trophies are made in the same way as the combat ones, requiring 75 Furnishing skill and Lumber, Steel Ingots, Maple Stain, and motes. To find the unique crafting components for the Basic and Major trophies, you need to loot chests, which you can do on a World Tour or on your own solo chest runs. Trophy mats only come from Supply Stockpiles, Ancient Chests, Elite Supply Stockpiles, Elite Ancient Chests, and Take Grave Offerings. Loot Luck increases your chances to get them. You can also receive trophy mats in aptitude reward crates for Furnishing.

The way to find the crafting components for Fishing Gathering trophies is, appropriately, through catching fish. The Basic Fishing Trophy requires a Taxidermied Blue-blooded Barb, which you can get by salvaging a Blue-blooded Barb, fished from fresh and saltwater in Reekwater. To make the Major Fishing Gathering Trophy, you’ll need a Taxidermied Deamonaja, which you can salvage from Daemonaja caught in Ebonscale Reach.

Fabricating

Essential for crafters, fabricating trophies increase the base potential Gear Score of a crafted item. Without trophies, a fully skilled, dressed, fed, supplied, and buffed crafter would be able to reach a maximum of 685 gearscore when using Chromatic Seals and Azoth Inductors. With three Major trophies, the gearscore becomes 700, maximising all bonuses.

Much like the farming trophies, the Minor fabricating trophies simply require 75 Furnishing skill and Lumber, Steel Ingots, Maple Stain, and motes. Basic and Major trophies require unique crafting components that can be found in Supply Stockpiles, Ancient Chests, Elite Supply Stockpiles, Elite Ancient Chests, Take Grave Offerings, and Furnishing aptitude crates.

Ultimate Trophies

Once you have gathered all the Major Trophies of a particular type, you can buy an Ultimate Trophy Component from the Faction vendor for 100,000 faction tokens and 45,000 gold. You then take it to a Workshop and combine it with the respective Major Trophies.

While these are very expensive, they free up trophy slots and allow you to ultimately have all your trophies up at once. You can place one Ultimate Trophy of each type in each house.

Loot Luck

Loot luck is a key ingredient in acquiring the unique crafting components, and subsequently is usually the most expensive of all the single trophies. Interestingly, trophies only make up a small part of your total luck, so it is worth investing in armour, jewellry, and pearls first. At the end of the day, you’ll want as much luck as you can get, so you’ll probably end up acquiring these trophies too.

Every level of Loot Luck trophy requires a unique crafting component, which makes these trophies one tier higher than all the rest. The Minor Loot Luck Trophy uses a Rabbit’s Foot, which can be found by skinning any rabbits. The other two components can be found in chests or aptitude crates like those above.
