Crafting Armour Set Calculator and more

This guide became outdated when Season 3 was released on October 3, 2023. It will remain on this page for historical purposes.

Please use our new Armour Crafting guide.

What materials do I need?

I’m so glad you ask! Here is a handy calculator to work out how many mats you need to craft one set of armour. Just choose your preferred item in each category and it will show the total required Metal, Leather and Cloth. If you don’t need a full set, you can leave pieces blank, just be aware that the total weight and resistances will not be accurate if you do.

Getting armour crafted is a great way to choose the gear you want to wear. You can work on your skills and make your own, or get a friendly neighbourhood armoursmith to craft it for you. They will often do it for free as long as you provide the mats, so we’ve made a guide to help you figure out what mats you need.

Note: if you are making regular Fur armour (not Timeless, Scarab or Fabricate crafted), the recipe requires Fur in the place of leather and Leather in the place of cloth. Apart from that, the quantities will be the same, whatever level of armour you are crafting, from Linen to Orichalcum.

There are three weights of armour in New World and in each weight category there are three distributions of physical and elemental resistance. You can put any combination of armour pieces together to make a set, and their combined values will determine the weight category and total resistances.

Attribute Craft mods

The volume of attribute craft mods required makes them a highly valued item. You can get these from almost any loot source, including basic Supply Crates. There are also craft mods that give 2 attributes, that cannot be used in Scarab or Timeless crafts. These can be combined at a Gypsum Kiln to make a single attribute craft mod from one of their two attributes. It takes 5 of the split-stat mods to make 1 single-stat mod.

Which mod for which attribute?

  • CON – Iron Guardman Insignia
  • STR – Iron Battle Medal
  • DEX – Rough Leather Beaded Straps
  • INT – Linen Arcane Embroidery
  • FOC – Softwood Prayer Beads.

Golden Scarab craft

The most control a New World crafter can get over the results of their work is when they roll with a Golden Scarab. This crafting type uses significantly more resources, but allows you to choose a single attribute and two perks, with the chance of a third random perk if you roll 600. The best gear score range an armoursmith can achieve for these rolls is 595-600.

Note: you need to have the Timeless Shards and Golden Scarab in your inventory or settlement storage for this recipe to appear.

Ingredients

  • 1 Golden Scarab
  • 3 Timeless Shards for the item type
  • 25 Craft mods for the attribute type
  • Perk 1 craft mod
  • Perk 2 craft mod
  • 165 Azoth
  • Tier V mats – Asmodeum, Runic Leather, Phoenixweave

Timeless Shard craft

Timeless shards were introduced before Golden Scarabs, and allow crafters to choose one single attribute and one perk. With top-quality materials and all the crafting skill, gear, trophies, food and town buff, you can make 595-600 gear score items with a very high chance of 2 additional random perks and a gem slot.

Note: you need to have the Timeless Shard in your inventory or settlement storage for this recipe to appear.

Ingredients

  • 1 Timeless Shards for the item type
  • 10 Craft mods for the attribute type
  • Perk 1 craft mod
  • 24 Azoth
  • Tier V mats – Asmodeum, Runic Leather, Phoenixweave

Runestone Stopwatch craft

Using a Runestone Stopwatch allows you to reduce the Gear Score range to 598-600. The catch is that you can only choose Con for the attribute, and only select one perk, with the two remaining perks being random. This is best used on something with a limited perk pool, and isn’t great for armour.

Note: you need to have the Runestone Stopwatch in your inventory or settlement storage for this recipe to appear.

Ingredients

  • 1 Runestone Stopwatch
  • 3 Infused Armor Fragments
  • 1 craft mod
  • 24 Azoth
  • Tier V mats – Asmodeum, Runic Leather, Phoenixweave

Note: the Runestone Stopwatch is a Bind on Pickup crafted item. It requires 10 Runestone, 500 Umbral shards, and 500 Azoth. So, in order to get one of these made, you’ll need to find a crafter that has some in stock and is happy to use their cooldown. While you can supply the Runestone and Azoth, the Umbral shards are not tradeable, so you’ll need to work out some other form of compensation.

Regular craft

You can, of course, try your luck with the random number generator. A regular craft allows you to choose use one craft mod, which could give you a perk, an attribute, or even split attributes if you desire. If you choose a perk, using all the crafting gear and buffs, you can make 595-600 gear score items with a chance of 2 additional random perks and a random attribute. If you choose the attributes with your craft mod, you will have the chance of 3 random perks.

Ingredients

  • 1 craft mod
  • 33 Azoth
  • Tier V mats – Asmodeum, Runic Leather, Phoenixweave

Crafting armour is a great way to customise and finalise your sets. Just be aware that rolling for Legendary can be very expensive, due to the nature of the Random Number Generator and the way the perk roll chances are weighted. If you have a three perk item in mind, you should check the perk roll chances on a database site like new-world.guide, and leave the perk with the highest chance to roll out.

Before you craft anything, you should check the named items list to see if there are any other items with the perks you want, that you might have in storage or be able to farm. You should also check the Trading Post and use the perk filter to see whether anyone is selling the exact item you need. If you were planning to do a Golden Scarab roll and there is an item with the same two perks and suitable attribute for less than 5k, you’re better off buying it. Unless you prefer the look of the crafted skin, of course.

If you’re on Delos and need something crafted, I always have my Armoursmith trophies up. Message Landi in game and let me know what you want 🙂
