We’re about halfway to the end of New World and it’s become very quiet in the official discord, with Evolys moving on to greener pastures. The New World community has managed to find something to talk about though, with potential savior Alastair MacFarlane posting his resignation from Rust, and BagginsTV randomly posting “New World” on X, sparking some conspiratorial chatter. As for me, I’ve almost finished my territory standing, thanks to the huge boosts from the XP multiplier and other buffs, and have been enjoying wandering around an almost empty Delos collecting lore notes. Aeternum is such a beautiful world, even without the promise of a future it’s worth spending time saying goodbye properly.

The tea
The biggest news this month is speculation on why MacFarlane left Rust and whether it means anything for New World. For those who don’t remember, his offhand comment in January about buying New World for 25 million went, well I wouldn’t say viral but it certainly did the rounds of the New World community. Some were buoyed by the possibility of salvation and others bitter and cynical about such a cruel joke. The final result was an mNDA between AGS and Alistair MacFarlane and no more was said on the matter.
That is, until now. Those watching closely have picked up an undercurrent of activity which was posted on the r/newworldgame subreddit – here and here.
In the comments under MacFarlane’s resignation post, there’s a comment from Bucky of Palworld, who had originally joined in with the joke offer at the start of the year.
Now, this is highly likely to be nothing, but since it’s been an incredibly quiet month, I figured I’d leave it here for you to chew on. On top of that, only a couple of days earlier, Baggins made a cryptic post containing only two words – New World. Is this just coincidental timing or could something be happening behind the scenes that we don’t know about? Only time will tell.
