What to do at 65

 What to do at 65

Congrats! You made it to 65, now what?

The journey to max level in New World is scaffolded by the Main Story Quest and the XP line across the bottom of your screen. But once you graduate, it’s up to you to set your own goals, and that can be a bit overwhelming. We’ve put together a list of activities that might help you settle into your new post-65 life.

Table of Contents

There are lots of quests available beyond the main story, so if you enjoy questing, you can look for those.

More Main Story Quest

If you didn’t head to Brimstone Sands and Elysian Wilds when you hit 60, you should go there now.

  • Brimstone Sands. The biggest reason you need to do this questline is to unlock Glyphs so you can open elite chests in the region. The Brimstone Main Story quest also unlocks the quest to open your Heartrune slot. You’ll need to complete Past Prologue on the MSQ and also the side quest The Antiquarian’s Dream in order to receive the Secrets of the Heartgem quest from Anna Rózsa.
  • Elysian Wilds. To enter the zone, you need to start the Invasion of Artemis questline. This will start in a different location, depending on your faction affiliation. The reward at the end of the chain of quests is the Attuned Leather Pants artifact, so it’s worth doing.

I’d recommend starting the Elysian Wilds questline just to unlock the zone so that you can join in on chest runs and the Savage Divide expedition, then head to Brimstone to get your Heartrune, and then go back and finish the Elysian Wilds.

Season Quests

The Seasonal Quests can give you lots of Season Pass XP, so if you haven’t completed them because you’re been too busy leveling, seek out the Silver Crows on the map. There’s a good satchel reward as well.

Faction Questline and Reputation

It is worth maximising your Faction level so that you can buy the top-tier items from the Faction shop. Chromatic Seals are essential for upgrading Named items and Artifacts, and while they may be available seasonally from Events, the top level Faction vendor is the only place you can get them year-round.

Side Quests

These won’t give great rewards now that you are level 65 but it can still be satisfying to clear your map of quest markers and gain the achievement for quest completion. You might even pick up a new Transmog appearance if you’re lucky.

While you don’t have to do all of these things every day, it can be helpful to have a guideline of the activities you could choose to do. The daily reset happens at 5am Delos server time, which means that if you do any of these things any time up to 4:59am, you are eligible to do them again at 5am.

  • Join Invasions – the reward for winning or losing is around 1000 gold, plus you get Named Items in the cache, as well as faction tokens and reputation. Some companies also provide gold prizes for helping out.
  • 3 Bonus Faction Missions. The first 3 faction missions you do each day will give you 10x coin, tokens, and reputation.
  • 2 Lost Sacks of Coins. You get these from closing Major Corruption Breaches or killing roaming bosses in Elysian Wilds. They have 250 gold in them and you are limited to 2 per day. Tip: you can hoard your Breach Caches and just open 2 per day for a quick coin infusion.
  • Elite chest runs. Elite chests can be opened once per day and contain rare items such as Golden Scarabs, Trophy ingredients, and rare Furniture.
  • Gypsum orbs. Although these are not used for raising expertise anymore, they are essential for making Matrix, upgrading Named items, Artifacts, and Heartrunes. You can collect a limited number of each gypsum type daily, which is outlined in more detail here.
  • Buy your Chromatic Seal. These cost 5,000 coins and 20,000 faction tokens so you might not be able to start on this right away. However, they are limited to purchasing one per day and you need 3 to upgrade a named item, so it’s good to start a collection once you are able to.
  • Cooldown mats. If you have raised your refining to max level, you can craft 10 Prismatic resources per day. Old T5 cooldown mats are also limited to 10 per day, but you are better off using Legendary Fragments from salvaging to make those rather than your precious resources.
  • Event bosses. Seasonal events usually have a World Boss that you can defeat a limited number of times per day for a reward. See our home page for a link to the Current Event.
  • 3 Bonus loot bags. These change seasonally and provide some extra coin, a Diamond Gypsum, and other resources while doing activities.
    • Concealed Vault – looting chests
    • Sportsmans Spoils – gathering resources
    • Bags of Juniper Berries – killing mobs
    • Ritual Pouch – closing Major T5 Corruption portals
  • Complete a Random Mutated Expedition – 150 gold 10000 faction tokens
  • Complete 2x Random Expedition – 125 gold 2500 faction tokens each
  • Complete a Random Mutated Expedition as a Healer or Tank – 100 gold 1000 faction tokens
  • Complete 2x Random Expedition as a Healer or Tank – 50 gold 500 faction tokens each
  • Complete a Group Finder Mutated Expedition that is lower than the highest level you have unlocked – 100 gold

Once you get to 65, there are no more level restrictions on gear or items and you finally have access to everything.

  • Get your Gear Score to 650/675 to unlock access to Mutation level 1/2. You can do this by buying gear from the Trading Post, running storymode expeditions for drops, or through open-world loot and chests in high-level zones.
  • Get your Gear Score to 695+ to unlock access to Mutation level 3. You can do this by running Mutation level 1 and 2.
  • Build your Gear Sets. Put together gear with the best perks for your build and the activities you like to participate in. Even if you prefer PVP, it’s worth making sure you have a set that will work in PVE mutations so that you can get the Artifacts that drop there.
  • Use nwdb.info to search for items with perks that you want, and set the Upgradeable filter to Yes to find Named Items you can farm.
  • Look up the Artifacts that suit your build and acquire them if they are available.
  • Buy three houses and five trophies for each house. Basic Combat trophies are relatively cheap and will increase your damage against the monster type by 4% per trophy.
  • Raise your Faction Reputation to max level.
  • If you haven’t already, raise your Riding skill to 200 for max speed.
  • Upgrade your bags to 600GS+ for Lasting Consumption and increased weight capacity.

Once you are settled into gear that allows you to participate in most end-game content, you can work on some bigger tasks.

  • Level all weapon skills to 20.
  • Make gear sets for different roles – DPS, Healer, Tank – so you can respec to fill a gap in dungeon groups or unbalanced OPR matches.
  • Raise your gathering skills to 250. Put together a set of luck/yield bonus gear for each gathering type and make sure you have 600GS+ gathering tools.
    • Mining
    • Logging
    • Skinning
    • Harvesting
    • Fishing (note: Fishing is special and you should do the Fishing quest to raise this and get your gear/rod)
  • Raise all refining skills to 250. Put together a set of refining bonus gear for each refining skill. Gear score doesn’t matter for this, it’s a flat bonus of +2 per piece.
    • Smelting
    • Leatherworking (Tanner’s)
    • Weaving
    • Woodworking
    • Stonecutting
  • Raise all crafting skills to 250. Put together a set of crafting bonus gear for all craft skills. Gear score doesn’t matter for this, it’s a flat bonus of +2 per piece and +5 for the earring. Acquire three major trophies for each craft skill.
    • Arcana
    • Armorcrafting
    • Cooking
    • Engineering
    • Furnishing
    • Jewelcraft
    • Weaponsmithing
  • Raise Music to at least 100 for the majority of useful song buffs.
  • Collect all the Artifacts – this will involve completing every mutated expedition – probably multiple times, completing many PVP tracks, participating in Outpost Rush, and killing open-world elite mobs.
  • Reach 30 Territory Standing in three settlements, so you can have the largest size houses.
  • Season Pass 100 every season.

For the hard-core New World enjoyers, there are some long-term goals that take many, many hours to complete and some may be impossible if you’re not lucky enough.

  • Acquire 9 Ultimate Trophies, 3 Major Loot Luck Trophies, Feast a Plenty trophy.
  • Complete level 200+ PVP Track
  • Kill the Sandwurm
  • Reach Standing level 300 in all territories
  • Collect Leaderboard skins for all categories
  • Collect all Transmog appearances
  • Collect all Schematics, Recipes, and music sheets (including rare Brimstone furniture schematics)
  • Find and read all the Lore Notes to complete the Documents section of your Journal
  • Complete all the Achievements
  • Get 1 Goldfish in Porcelain Bowl
